5 DAYS/4 NIGHTS – EXCLUSIVE LUXURY RETREAT


Ready to try a Vipassana retreat? But worried whether you will be able to handle the experience? This 5 day silent retreat will allow you to immerse yourself fully in the experience, but without the hairshirt!  Set within the beautiful Woll House, you’ll eat delicious food, sleep like Goldilocks (in the “good” bed!) and have time to contemplate in the sauna or hot tub overlooking the beautiful grounds. More importantly, Alex will share practices specifically designed for people that don’t live in caves; techniques that recognise you have an actual life, family and demands that you have to balance alongside your desire to meditate. 

Guests will hand in their phones and devices on the first evening and be in silence until the end of the retreat. Each morning we’ll start the day with a mindful group yoga practice followed by a meditation workshop.  Each session will cover different concepts and practices and give you the chance to experience them in your own body and mind.   Afternoons will include a philosophy talk and integration time to allow the mind the time and space it needs to truly deepen into awareness.

Working with your gifted teacher, Alex, this retreat will offer you the unique chance to build your toolbox of techniques, ensuring you have something for every eventuality.  No single tool works for everybody and having the time to play with multiple techniques is a wonderful learning opportunity to discover what works for you.


After arrival you will have the opportunity to settle in, meet your fellow guests over afternoon tea and relax before your first workshop.

Each morning, there will be a 2.5 hour workshop incorporating lecture and a balanced asana practice, a seated meditation and a guided relaxation. Each session is designed to get your body moving and put a smile on your face for the day.  More challenging options are provided for the more experienced yogi, modifications are offered if you’re just starting your journey.

On Saturday, after brunch, there will be an optional guided walk and wild swim. And of course, we offer plenty of free time to allow you to relax in the infrared sauna or hot tub, to chat with new friends or to just be. 

In the evenings, there will be a workshop with both lecture and practice, all designed to help you re-find your balance and get your body and mind calm for a fantastic night’s sleep.  

Each day includes time to add an onsite massage to your programme if you desire.

Delicious food, from our private chef, Delia, The Jammy Cook, is included.  Meals will be vegetarian using locally sourced fresh produce.  Every dish is designed to tickle your taste buds and ensures that the food is an important part of the retreat! Unlimited tea, herbal tea and coffee is included. In the morning,

  • 14:00 onwards – Arrival and check in, Afternoon Tea
  • 16:00 – 18:30 – Welcome and Overview, Workshop 1
  • 18:45 onwards – Dinner and own relaxation time

Day 2:

  • 08:30 – 11:00 – Workshop 1
  • 11:30 onwards – Brunch and own relaxation time
  • 13:00 – 17:00 – Guided Walk/Wild Swim/Free time
  • 17:00 – 19:30 – Workshop 2 
  • 19:45 onwards – Dinner and own relaxation time

Day 3:

  • 08:30 – 11:00 – Workshop 1
  • 11:30 onwards – Brunch and own relaxation time
  • 15:00 onwards – Departure

Built in 1874, Woll House is a Victorian mansion house with original features.  Accommodation comprises 6 private twin or king bedrooms each with either an ensuite bathroom or a dedicated private bathroom located adjacent to the bedroom. If you simply haven’t had enough movement, there is a gym with a treadmill, weight bench, mini-trampoline, punch bag and gloves and a rowing machine. However, if you’d prefer to relax, in addition to the infrared sauna and hot tub, there is an extensive library with an open fireplace as well as plenty of room in the drawing room to curl up in front of the fire.  Outside, Woll House Estate comprises over 100 acres of private woodlands and fields that you’re welcome to explore at your leisure.  Or if you prefer, you can simply sit on the deck with a book and enjoy the views over the open Scottish countryside.  Woll House is nestled in beautiful countryside and provides an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity that will perfectly complement this exclusive weekend.

The Teacher

Samantha, your host and the owner of the estate, is an E-RYT500 certified instructor and one of the few UK based certified Yoga Trapeze instructors. I have been fortunate enough to complete trainings with some exceptional yogis including Dice Iida-Klein, Briohny Smyth, Dylan Werner, Jason Crandell, Claudine Lafond, Mackenzie Miller, Mathieu Boldron, Tiffany Cruickshank, Kathryn Budig and Daniel Scott.

In addition to my yoga qualifications, I am a fully certified Lolita’s Legacy Pilates Instructor in both mat and equipment pilates.  My dedicated Pilates studio includes a Reformer, Tower, Chair, Spine Corrector as well as small equipment.
