The house and food are amazing but what I enjoyed the most was the professional yoga Sam taught. She pushed me to the max (and beyond) but in a very friendly and respectful manner. She's a very experienced and professional teacher which I can recommend unrestrictedly. Thanks for the great experience!Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.Fiona Jamieson29/05/2024What an amazing retreat - every detail absolutely first class. I left thinking when can I go again? Samantha is a truly exceptional, knowledgable and inspirational yoga teacher, her classes are great fun and included pranayama and meditation. The retreat is in a stunning, opulent, country mansion with a cosy interior and also has lovely features like hot tub and infra red sauna which along with the relaxed atmosphere Samantha fosters, allows everyone to 'switch off". I stayed in the large Saraswati room which was warm and charming; it had a lovely comfortable bed and an en suite shower room. The yoga studio is a delight with large windows framing the beautiful Borders landscape. Delia's food was plentiful and absolutely mouth-wateringly tasty, a huge highlight of the retreat.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.Michelle Ballantyne28/05/2024The Woll retreat had everything, comfortable bed, breathtaking views, fab facilities (particularly enjoyed the sauna before retiring) even a great masseuse! The food was seriously good and you were never hungry. Sam was a great teacher adapting her lessons so that you could participate no matter what level you were at. I learnt a lot and came away feeling ready to tackle the challenges in my life. A quick shout out to my fellow retreaters who made the weekend a lot of fun. And a huge thank you to Sam and her team who thought of everything. If you are looking for the perfect getaway and a chance to kick start yourself I recommend you book yourself into a Woll Retreat.you won’t regret it????Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.Zoe Walters01/06/2023Full disclosure - I am not a yogi. I'm far removed from your average yogi... but I wanted to try yoga and I'm really glad that my first experience of it was here. Sam is an incredibly patient and helpful teacher. It helps that she's a bloody lovely person too. She was very patient with me and my frustrations at my body not bending where it should, and I didn't feel as if I was the daft new person in the room not getting something right. I liked that she took time to explain the philosophy of yoga practice and walked us through the 8 limbs of yoga - giving us the chance over the weekend to experience a broad range of what yoga is, and to allow us to try many elements. The classes were well paced, challenging (more so for me who is a bit like a bull in a china shop when it comes to being balanced and delicate!) and taught me that despite all my strength and conditioning training at the gym, areas are weak. I know what I need to improve now, though. There was always time to chat over things at lunch or dinner and Sam spends her time with the class throughout the weekend - she's incredibly dedicated and genuinely wants everyone to get something out of the retreat. And I think we all did. Her home is beautiful - with the added bonus of a hot tub and infrared sauna available to us - we were comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I can't let this review go by without mentioning the food - we were so well fed thanks to the local supplier The Jammy Cook. The food was simply incredible - enormous amounts of it but everything was beautiful and prepared with care and though - Delia puts a lot of work, thought and consideration into creating inventive vegetarian food. I think I went home heavier than I arrived, mind you! If you've got this far - I don't really need to say anything else other than to go and book yourself a rewarding treat at Woll House. Whether you're a yogi wanting to push your practice and understanding or you're a novice wanting a safe environment with a supportive and knowledgeable tutor, you can't go wrong here.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.Vincent McMahon29/05/2023We’ve just had an amazing experience at a weekend yoga retreat with Samantha at Woll Estate. All sessions offered something slightly different but complemented each other. Samantha was an excellent teacher/yogi. She was inspirational… Would recommend this to anyone, whether they are relative beginners, like myself, or more experienced - all levels and abilities catered for, with focus on individual areas of need. I would recommend this for everyone, no matter what yoga level! I arrived on the Friday expecting to learn a few yoga poses and hoping my level of fitness wouldn't be a burden to the class. Sam is an incredible teacher, with the ability to shine the light on people's strengths, lending an extra hand to those in need (taking injuries into account-creating alternative poses) and taking the time to make sure everyone understood the why and how of the poses/stretches. She had us doing crab poses by day 2! A lovely back stretch. The sessions were infused with friendliness and humour and by the end, a sense of accomplishment and contentment rang throughout the group. Accommodation - the place is divine. Manages to look stately yet cosy/inviting at the same time. My bed was comfy, with handmade welcome truffles (from the jammy cook) and bathrobe laid out ready for sauna use. Also available (for downtime): outdoor hot tub, indoor sauna and a library. The food by Delia at The Jammy Cook was sensational. Each delicious mouthful helped make the retreat perfect. @jammycookdeliasurpliceTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.Ivonne Tolentino22/11/2022I had the most enriching, relaxing, inspiring and empowering retreat with Sam and a group of wonderful women in a setting that makes you feel in Scottish paradise. Sam’s knowledge, spark and skilful way to deliver classes and workshops is truly remarkable. Having a regular yoga practice myself, I found her insights and support very valuable to keep developing my own practice. I love her strong, fun and inclusive approach. If you’re looking for a yoga retreat that will help you understand why so many people rave about yoga and it’s benefits, or are an advanced practitioner looking for a bit of luxury accommodation and a stunning setting with fantastic food (thanks Delia! @yammycoo) I’d definitely recommend Woll Estate Retreats with Sam! I drove from the south of England just for the retreat and I’d do it every weekend if I could! I’ll be coming back and bring my friends for sure, I can’t wait for the next one!Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.Sally Naysmith21/11/2022I’ve just come back from one of the best weekends I’ve had in a long time. Sam is a truly wonderful host and the most incredible yoga teacher, catering for all levels and providing alternative options for those with injuries. The house and grounds of the estate are spectacular, especially when looking out from the hot tub on the terrace! The wild swimming was so refreshing too. If you’re thinking about going on a yoga retreat, make sure to book Woll estate retreats - you’ll never regret it. I see myself becoming a regular visitor from now on! Also huge thanks to Delia @jammycook who made us exquisite, yummy meals and treats that fuelled us for our yoga workshops.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.David & Alison Aspinall21/11/2022I have just spent the most amazing, challenging, emotional and incredible yoga weekend workshop with a group of wonderful women in the most beautiful surroundings! Our host and yoga teacher Sam was inspiring and the most supportive teacher; I have learned so much and discovered there are yoga poses I can do that I would not have thought possible!!! I wish I lived closer as I would be a regular class attendee...I am now searching for another 'Sam' in my area ! (...just to say too that the food created by 'Jammy Coo' Delia was the best...thank you :) xx)Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.Judith Keating20/11/2022I've just returned from the best Yoga retreat ever! Sam's classes were informative, challenging but totally inclusive. Suitable for all levels, from the physically challenged (me!) to the qualified yoga teacher (not me!). Just the right balance of technical input and physical practice. Set in the most beautiful environment offering peace and tranquility. Not forgetting 'THE' most delicious food, curtesy of Delia @jammycoo. If you get the opportunity to go, grab it with both hands.
